Animal heaven is where…

Animal heaven is where…
By AJ O’Brien.

Dogs ride little green bicycles
and take kittens for a ride,
where when the sun goes down
lions and deer, sleep side by side.

Where every Friday, foxes gather
along with hamsters and chickens,
upon a cloud of silken white
to discuss the works of Charles Dickens.

Where bats have super eyesight
and giraffes never have sore throats,
grizzly bears wear nose pegs
when dancing with smelly goats.

Where horses race snails
and snakes are never ever mean,
all frogs have a leg on each corner
and cows sing in fields of green.

Where all ants are named Eric
and ducks wear little blue hats,
dolphins sunbathe on the beach
and penguins are super acrobats.

Where tigers drink red wine
and spiders weave webs of gold,
fish swim and are never caught
and polar bears don’t know the word cold.

Animal Heaven is where
when their time has come,
all God’s creatures go
and do nothing, but have fun.

Desperation

Desperation
By AJ O’Brien.

And through darkness
with hope they tread
in search of the demon,
willing to return life
to an innocent, dead.

Silent love wrapped in rags
and the quest did end
upon a crimson hill,
time to meet
an unwanted friend.

Dancing, a shadow white
the beast did appear,
and the air was corrupted
as they both did knell,
two hearts drowning in fear.

Your God has forsaken thou
so you call upon me,
the King of the dead
deaths ancient dancer
beneath the Hanging Tree.

But worry not, cried the demon.
I shall return life to your daughter.
And in return, he sniggered,
One of you
I must slaughter.

A fall from on high

A fall from on high
By AJ O’Brien.

A thousand blazing Suns
from galaxies unknown
erupted from his eyes,
and climbing toward emptiness
whispered their goodbyes.

And the keeper of sorrows
held sadness at bay
as he collected the tears
on that lost and lonely day.

For an Angel of God
a liquid shadow
has fallen from grace,
and banished from Heaven
to reside beneath our mortal race.

Just one minute man

Just one minute man
By AJ O’Brien.

All set Mr. President,
I have a long way to fly
and when I arrive,
well you know the outcome
and so do I.
Clear skies lay ahead
let the darkness begin.
What you’re about to do,
not me,
Is a cardinal sin.

You’ve entered your code
so sit back and relax,
kick off your shoes
have a drink or two
while I tell you the facts.

I’m an LGM-30 Minuteman
Intercontinental ballistic missile
carrying three nuclear warheads,
and when I come down
I come down in style.
Payload 500 Kilotons
more than enough power
to destroy 50 Hiroshima’s,
and I shall be arriving
In just under one hour.
Cruising speed, 1500 mph
altitude 700 miles high
accuracy within 200 meters.
Bury your guilt
and kiss the dead goodbye.

Okay, target is dead ahead
given the final code to attack,
all warheads are fully armed
pray you’re doing the right thing,
there’s no turning back.
60 seconds to impact
coming down like a hammer from Hell,
30 seconds to impact
just enough time,
to sound the death knell.

Damned

Damned
By AJ O’Brien.

A dark soul has departed.

Climbing toward heaven
it tumbled and fell,
arriving quietly
in a town named Hell.

And their flesh is burning
and the dead keep dying,
pleading for an end
but Lucifer is lying.

Wretched heads embedded
upon spikes of gold,
their wicked thoughts
to the highest bidder sold.

Weeping belated tears
for a depraved past,
the newcomer
is into a furnace cast.

Whispers a dancing demon
with a practiced sign,
your soul is my soul
and forever you shall die.

Welcome

For Caeden
My Grandson.
By AJ O’Brien

Your beautiful heart beats
to the call of an ancient race,
each and every breath
a summer breeze
upon my face.

I shall watch in awe
as your mind and spirit grow,
your soul I will embrace.
Welcome newcomer,
sweet Caeden.
Welcome to the human race.

Caeden is an old Irish name.
Pronounced Kayden.
