Tormented

Tormented
By AJ O’Brien.

Upturned wrists
beneath a black light,
which to open first
unwrap,
the left or right.

Upon a razor’s edge
as the water grows cold,
deciding to cut and die
or suffer and grow old.

Sharp the pain
steel meets flesh,
as she parts the Red Sea.
Why, I ask
could you not let her be?

  1. Aw I missed this. Can’t believe it. Somehow I was not following you..how did that happen? I don’t know. I am glad to have you back and your reading! I love it! I really like the first few lines where you mention opening the fists…the opening act.πŸ‘ŒπŸ™Œ

  2. I think you did nail this one. I have known far to many people who have taken their own lives, and we can only imagine the torment that lead them to this decision. And the worst thing is that so many of us wanted to help, but our help just wasn’t good enough. You do manage to go right to the core of the issue, Alan!
