Damned
By AJ O’Brien.
A dark soul has departed.
Climbing toward heaven
it tumbled and fell,
arriving quietly
in a town named Hell.
And their flesh is burning
and the dead keep dying,
pleading for an end
but Lucifer is lying.
Wretched heads embedded
upon spikes of gold,
their wicked thoughts
to the highest bidder sold.
Weeping belated tears
for a depraved past,
the newcomer
is into a furnace cast.
Whispers a dancing demon
with a practiced sign,
your soul is my soul
and forever you shall die.
Man this is an amazing poem about hell.

Sorry MG.
I don’t think my imagination has an off switch.
As for the eclipse. I live in London, England.
Unfortunately, I’m going to miss it. π

I will only see it partially. I am sure there will be a lot of footage on the news and You Tube…Cheers!

Thank you MG.
My heart totally agrees with you.
But my imagination, well that’s a different story.

Yes, the mind and imagination are amazing and sometimes need an off switch. Hope you get to see some of the eclipse tomorrow. Best wishes π»

Interesting. I believe my soul is my own and no one can have it. I also believe hell is a state of mind. You go to some amazing places. Blessings to you.

Dark and delicious, Alan. You’ve created such good imagery with your words that I can almost smell and taste the brimstone. π

Definitely one of your best in my opinion. You have an excellent way of turning a phrase. The last three stanzas are unique and priceless. Great poem, Alan.
